Very nice and interesting reply Ranjini:) I actually did mean all the startup and the actual cooking time around 30 mins BUT definetly excluding cleanup...since  dh helps with that its a blessing:) thanks for peeping in..

I think the time to cook is not the same as cooking time, because in order to begin the cooking process, one has to get the factory into working order. This includes washing, scrubbing and tidying. All this easily adds up to a couple of hours! The method and time to actually cook something has changed in some respects compared to the way my grandma used to cook. We can cook individual meals fairly quickly. But for the most part, if you are talking about Indian cooking, you are talking about starting from basics, and this still takes it's own sweet time!  Gadgets and gizmos help us somewhat....at least make the job interesting!
